Caritas Communities is a leader in providing Single Room Occupancy (SRO) housing. We own and manage 25 houses, providing permanent affordable housing for over 600 men and women in Greater Boston.
Caritas residents are typically employed in service related jobs, earning at or near the minimum wage, and are unable to afford market rate apartments in the Boston area. Some residents have been homeless; many have avoided living in a shelter or on the street by moving to a Caritas rooming house.
Caritas provides residents with a clean, furnished room including a small refrigerator. Most residents share kitchens and baths. The rent includes utilities and, in most cases, free laundry. Each house has an on-site manager available to assist residents and oversee maintenance.
